"Sounds great! Very Jim Steinman-esque!!!!"! Andrew Polec, lead singer and actor in Jim Steinman's sensational Bat Out Of Hell The Musical
This is a song written by Philippos Aristotelous as a tribute to Jim Steinman, one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Jim has been a great influencer and contributor to the evolution of the rock scene from the late 70's to the early 90's and a member of the Songwriters' Hall of Fame (as of 14 June 2017).
Jim Steinman developed and made popular the so-called "Wagnerian Rock" genre, referring to the merger of twentieth century rock and roll and nineteenth-century opera reminiscent of Richard Wagner and of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound. The term is sometimes used ambiguously in rock writing, referring to a bombastic Teutonic style, or fantasy lyrics (*)
Songs written by Jim Steinman were performed and made popular by the likes of Meat Loaf (Bat Out of Hell I and Bat Out of Hell II which includes, inter alia, the song "I' do anything for love"), Celine Dion ("It's all coming back to me now"), Bonnie Tyler ("Total Eclipse of the Heart"), Barbra Streisand, Cher, Def Leppard and others.

THE MESSAGE
Music and Lyrics by Philippos Aristotelous
Voices
twisting and turning my dreams
I can hear all those voices
whispering during my sleep
that I’ve failed all my choices
then a boy said
"wake up its time to breath"
and the changes
all the things that we had to let go
just for saving our faces
locking our childhood away
I fell in love with her braces
but the girl said
"you can’t have me until you are real"
You've spent all your life trying to sell them a story
you've dwelled in the here and the now for so long
open your heart and you’ll find all the glory
there’s gold wherever you go and that’s the message my son
I close my eyes
I pray to the lord for my soul and my people
and I close my eyes
immersing myself in the night and emerging as sunlight
and then the boy sighs
" you can’t make it on your own"
and I walk by
the places I left long ago
just to see what it felt like
to be restless and wild as a child
who would gaze into the nightsky
and wonder what its like to be alive
You've spent all your life trying to sell them a story
you've dwelled in the here and the now for so long
open your heart and you’ll find all the glory
there’s gold wherever you go and that’s the message my son.
(BRIDGE)
You’re standing at the crossroads facing choices trying hard
and you know your feet are frozen
but there’s a fire burning deep inside your heart
will the pieces fit inside your heart
"gaze into the nightsky and you’ll find you're still alive..."
- alive!-
You've spent all your life trying to sell them a story
you've dwelled in the here and the now for so long
open your heart and you’ll find all the glory
there’s gold wherever you go
and the fire in your heart is like a beacon of hope
and the fire in your heart will deliver us home…
